Alimsultan Alkhamatov (? - September 28, 2009) was a Russian politician and official from Dagestan. Alkhamatov was head of the Khasavyurt district with Dagestan.[1] Alkhamatov was shot and killed in Moscow by a gunman as he was getting out of his car. The attack also left his driver seriously wounded.[1] Alkhamatov, who was 44 years old, was reportedly the target of three prior assassination attempts.[1] His assassination follows a string of high profile killings in Dagestan, Chechnya and Ingushetia in 2009.[1]
